The 19th WADEM Congress on Disaster and Emergency Medicine 2015
Date: April 21 - 24, 2015
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
The WADEM Congress on Disaster and Emergency Medicine took place in Cape Town, South Africa, from April 21st – 24th, 2015. This was the fourth year that International Conference Services was the congress manager. Past Congresses include WADEM 2009, 2011, and 2013. Over 800 delegates representing over 60 countries came together to participate in this four day event to share research, exchange ideas, expand networks and to meet up with old colleagues and friends.
The theme of the Congress was “Creating Capacity and Building Resilience”, and renewed initiatives to assist in meeting the health-related goals and priorities were discussed for the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction for 2015-2030.
An impressive 562 abstracts were submitted, including 438 oral abstracts, and 124 poster abstracts. Some highlights of the congress included the Congress Dinner which took place at the Gold Restaurant, which included a set 14 course menu that took delegates on a “taste safari” from Cape Malay to African Cuisine.
International Conference Services is proud to be managing the 2017 conference.
